Hello! My name is Bettina Smith Edmondson, and I am running for Layton City Council. I was born and raised in Layton. I attended Sarah Jane Adams Elementary, North Layton Jr. High, and I am proud to be a member of the first full graduating class of Northridge High School. I am a graduate of the University of Utah and I hold an MBA from Weber State University School of Business. I love our city and I am grateful for the life my husband and I have made here for our children. My desire to serve has recently driven me to run for office to make our community even better. With the growth in industry and population, I want to ensure Layton continues to be the community where people choose to live, work and raise a family.
I have always been a bridge builder, with friends and colleagues from various backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and viewpoints. I always seek to find common ground in order to move forward together. Growing up as a child of Hill Air Force Base employees, I have a strong love and respect for our military community and the faith and ethical principles taught by my parents have guided me throughout my life.
I have served the Utah community as a public employee for the State of Utah and in healthcare within the Intermountain Hospital System for over fifteen years. I currently work as a Sr. Healthcare Economics Consultant where I consult healthcare leaders on ways to reduce cost of healthcare to members and the system at-large through the use of data and analytics. I have also worked in volunteer capacities for different organizations, building budgets and maintaining finances. My varied experiences growing up in Layton, working in the public sector with businesses, community leaders, policy makers and citizens throughout Utah have prepared me to work for you as a Layton City Council Member.
